The Promotion…

The REAL answers to yesterday’s mystery photo are…
The EMOTION was on Dash’s face would be…
SUPPRESSED JOY & SLIGHT NERVES!
The cause of that particular emotion…
BEING PROMOTED TO A BIG HORSE!
With regular visits from Salina (Jeanie‘s horse-mad daughter) Dash has found a renewed interest in all things equine. However, while Rob Roy has been a sterling beginner pony, Dash has seen the freedom and speed and non-nip qualities that the bigger horses of Granite Glen offer. And when Salina got promoted from lovely old Lacey (who struggled a little with her health over winter) to younger-and-speedier Yvette… well, a little plot hatched in his head.
And after nagging his parents for some time, they eventually decided that Lacey looked recovered enough from her winter to handle a little rider, Dash got promoted.
See for yourself..
First, Dash was hoiked aboard his ‘new’ steed to see how it felt…
‘Pretty good Dad!’
And within minutes, he wanted to: TRY BY MYSELF!
A little lesson in keeping those reins firm…
‘You are in charge now!’
And he was off for a solo BIG HORSE run
cautiously urging her forward…

Then “Wheeee!”…

a little trot (bounce, bounce, bouce) to get the blood really pumping!

OK, gather those reins up again…

And off once more!
With an audience (Salina) keeping an eagle eye on developments…

Hmmm, does this thing have reverse?
Anyone else think my boy looks a loooooongg way off the ground here?

Gulp!

Starting to look at home aboard The Lacey Express

Good girl!

Thanks so much, lovely Lacey!

And THIS emotion, my friends, should be no mystery.

Sheer horse-inspired JOY!

Congratulations Dash!!! So fun! You look great up there on Lacey, a real pro. I really wish i had a horse!!!! BB he does look really high up there but he also looks very comfortable and in control. A natural horseman. Thanks for the fun contest!

Aw, that is so cute! He looks so proud of himself, concentrating so hard. What a good little mare, too!
I love that coppery sorrel color!

Found you via several other blogs but had to tell you….WHAT a kid! Those photos of him are adorable. Really really cute. And ponies/horses like Lacey, priceless!

Oh no – does ‘Salina now have to start scouting for which other horse she should covet in case the Dash express heats up?

In reverse… Jeanie – don’t fret. Although we are limiting rides to once daily so we don’t wear Lacey out completely!

Jayne and Portia – yah. Our little milestones. Even in the 10 months I have been blogging they have both grown up so much!

Holly – welcome!! I do think Dash is dashing… but if I don’t there WOULD be a problem, wouldn’t there! Thanks for the confirmation! 🙂

Leslie – you are never too old. Heck if I can climb aboard still (over 40 and lame!) then you can too! YOur challenge for the New Year resolutions….

PG – ta. We just call it “chestnut” here, what is it in USA? Will pop over shortly!

Kate and Deb – ohhhhh! I nearly had a conniption when I realised how FAR from the ground he was… and when SSB advised: “Mate, if you are going to fall, fall on your head. It’s got the best protection!” well, I nearly climbed in the yard to haul him off. But I was strong. I bit my tongue something fierce!!

    🙂

Dash does look a long way from the ground…but he also looks confident and comfortable especially towards the later pics. Pretty soon he’ll be doing really daring things and you’ll think back on this as one of the safest moments! 🙂

I was out of town for the last contest….it’s going to be pretty tough competing with all the clever minds that come up with captions for your pics!
