Horses

Up close with Cutestuff 1 & 2

Did I mention somewhere about the current cutest things (don’t forget the other one!) at Granite Glen?

And how these two breath-taking equine bubbas were sired by the late, great Admiral?

Clearly, I have been a little remiss at getting some more photos to make y’all go “aaaahhhhhh”. And I am fond of a little appropriate “aaahhhing” … what do you think? Shall I show some progress photos of Admiral’s foals? Alright then, you twisted my arm!
Dash, Violet and I went out in the Prado to check on the pair of scamps… I warned my slightly rambunctious pair to try and keep a lid on their enthusiasm so they didn’t scare the foals off while I was taking photos. They reluctantly agreed to “try and be quiet” and “try and move slowly” so as not to startle our subjects. Thus reassured (?) we set off down towards the dry river bed, where we found the brood mares and their offspring.
Got your “aaahing” gear ready??
This is what we found:
This is Cutestuff Number 1.

Obviously that’s not his real name.

Actually he doesn’t have a real name yet.
So until we all think of something outstanding, Cutestuff Number 1 (CS1) it is.
He’s a colt (duh!) and is as handsome as Hugh Jackman.
Or Will Smith.
Or whoever floats your boat.
Mr Incredible and Hugh Jackman float mine.
(Just so you know!)
Number 1 is very handsome but still a real Mummy’s Boy.
Not that there is anything wrong with that! After all, he is only two weeks old!
Oh look!
Here is his half-sister, Cutestuff Number 2 (CS2).
Work those eyelashes baby!
How adorable is she? Foals have such adorable eyelashes. And noses. And toeses.
Redheads rule (at least in the horse paddock here at Granite Glen).
Perhaps she could be called Ree? Heh.
Or maybe Bree (Desperate Housewives)?
(And is it just me, or is there a striking similarity between these two characters? What do you mean one is real and one is not? Heh!)
Now, where were we?
Oh. Cutestuff Number 2.
CS2 is a bit of a prankster.
She annoys her Ma endlessly with the whole “wriggle the rump under Mum’s belly” trick.
This is something Violet tries on too. I feel for CS2’s Mama.

Hang on! What’s happened? No more posing little girl?

CS2 got a little shy all of a sudden, and trotted smartly around the other side of Mum while she pretended to nibble on a sheaf of hay… I turned around to find out what had caused this unexpected change of mood,

only to find this:

When I asked what on earth they were doing, Dash patiently explained:
We’re being horses, ‘course!
So the baby horses won’t git scared an’ all…
Right.
Of course.
Silly Mum.
My giggles then sent both Mamas packing, with foals in tow.
Darn!

How is it possible that even their fuzzy little bottoms are cute?

Yea! Ponies! They are darling! (Your little stick posing ponies too, LOL! 😉 I especially like the filly’s little face, I hope she grows into those ears, hee hee! But the colt is very handsome indeed, as well. There is just something about foals, you said it well. Thanks for sharing!

Cutestuff 1 and Cutestuff 2. Ponies and children versions both. Man, BB, have you ever overdosed on ‘cute’ before? Because I think I did, a little.

Gah!!!! They are so stinkin’ cute! They have filled out and gotten so much bigger in just two weeks. I gotta say that the mommas are just beautiful as well. I love CS2’s mamma, she’s amazing (although they are similar aren’t they). We need much more of these little guys. Please please please please please (imagine me plucking plaintively at your shirt sleeve). I gotta say that the cutest things in that field are D and V posing as horses. I mean duh! Why didn’t i think of that last time i was visiting shy foals. Grownups are just not as imaginative as we should be. 🙂

Aaaahhhhhhh, those foals are BUILT! Love the fillys eyelashes!! 🙂 I also love Dash’s and Violet’s creativity in coming up with a way not to startle the babies! 🙂

    Oh did I mention…..Aaaaaaahhhhhhhh?

  • Bush Babe

D’ya think it would be too much to post some more of these guys up this week sometime? Too much cute??

Oh they are so cute!! And I love their fuzzy little bums too!! I am a sucker for bays, so I like CS1 the best. If I had to choose, that is, but they are both super handsome.

So, are the Mares related? They look, from the little I’ve seen, to be awfully similar–and I might add–beautiful. The foals are just everything you said they are. So very cute and “aaaahhhhhhh-able”. Keep the pictures coming!

Okay so they are definitely cute if the comments left here are any indication. Now, I’m waiting for it….the contest to name the cutie pies. AND! since I was the one that thought it up, let me throw in my first (and only) thought on the subject, I pick the name “Akimbo” for either one of them, because of the angular white marking on their foreheads. I could only think of one name. Your welcome. Ha. Seriously, I’ll be watching for the contest! 🙂

Oh so glad to see them up and about and filled out a bit and gorgeous and … what a couple of jewels. I LOVE all the long legs and the curiosity you see in their faces. Your pics are superb.

I was driving to the grocer on Saturday and found myself wondering about your foals…and specifically whether your brother has seen them and what he thought of them. Does he see admiral in them?
