Fishbowl, a Feline and a Flamin’ Ridiculous Dawg
I got a new lens hood a couple of weeks ago…
unlike my old hard plastic hood, this one is a fold-back rubber kinda hood.
(For those not photo-obsessed, a hood attaches to the end of a lens and assists when the sun is shining hard towards the lens, blocking the glare and allowing the photographer to shoot almost into the light… trust me, it’s groovy!).
(This is why.)
…
Anyway, it’s a great tool. No more pesky glare spots. The only trouble is, it doesn’t completely ‘fit’ with my beloved 18-200mm zoom lens – and let’s face it, that is the ONLY lens I actually use. This means basically, that when the lens is pulled back to it’s most panoramic limit, THIS happens.
No, not freaky black horse and human figures.
Those black ‘corners’ on the image, caused by my hood hovering a little too far out from the lens… something most ‘real’ photographers would shy away from.
After all it wasn’t a deliberate effect.
After all it wasn’t a deliberate effect.
But you know me…
I decided I kinda liked it…
It’s kind of like looking through binoculars (or monocle?)
or maybe even a fishbowl…
Hello General… how you going dude?
Hello Jill… sorry, I haven’t any hay darlin‘.

She’s very forgiving and poses anyway…
And then, the other day while doing these photos, with this guy…
Hello Axel Rose, you crazy Great Dane adolescent…

Hello Axel Rose, you crazy Great Dane adolescent…
My usual zoomed-out lens field (like that used in the above shot) worked initially,
but when the action came closer to me I went to 18mm and
got that had a similar groovy look…
(Warning: I have messed with the colour too… don’t adjust your monitors!)
Guess what?
Axel wants to play! With Middy.
Will he NEVER learn?
A tail position is worth a thousand words!
Aw Mid… c’mon, c’mon, c’mon!!!
Yarrrrrr….
Muuuummmmmyyyyyy!
…
Even in a desaturated 70’s fishbowl,
Axel is still a blinking great
Wuss for that black Puss.

I have lens envy! That is the nicest lens. What other lens can you keep on your camera all the while without changing back and forth to zoom that far? Nothing! The Nikon 18-200 mm lens is one that I've wanted for so long. My husband's birthday is this Saturday and I'd love to get it for him. But that wouldn't be fair, would it? Because it would really be for me!

I haven't got one clue about lens or camera's Babe, but those shots are lovely, and that dog is just to "silly"!! who needs telly when you have a half grown puppy 🙂

I met a Great Dane yesterday that resembles Axel. What a gorgeous dog but BIG 🙂 Had just won a competition in a big dog show. He was quite proud of himself.
I've tried many unsuccessful times to leave comments but had a "glitch" on my 'puter. Hopefully it has been repaired and I can plug in my .02 cents worth!
Your photos are lovely as always – General and Jill and both gorgeous.
Hope Mother Nature is being kind to you right now with some great weather 🙂
Have a great day!

For those who have no idea……I would say you were meaning to get those shots. Awesome. Very different I love it.

Black and white, true to life color, no matter what, Axel and Middy: pretty funny stuff.

I like the effect of the rounded edges but, yeah, if you didn't want them all the time it could get frustrating.

I like it too, it looks quite deliberate. Artsy fartsy, ya know?

P.S. — I have been to Australia, and I think it is such an amazing country! I do hope to make it back there some day…

Lucky you getting one of those lenses! I really want one but alas it will have to wait. Great pictures! 🙂
