WORLD Weather (and roof) watch WEDNESDAY

I will admit (up front) that I am not here.
Not here at the computer anyway… and some would argue not all here, ever!
I am actually travelling to another Big Town with Mum to help her choose a stove for her new house, and get stuff for my Dad’s 70th birthday celebrations this weekend.
On the road again!
Nonetheless, I am scheduling this post for my World Weather Watch Wednesday in the hope that everyone is still keen to share their outlook with the Granite Glen mob? Hello? Anyone out there?
And to make it slightly more interesting I thought I would give you a look at our roof.
Yar, you heard me. Our roof. For without our roof, I wouldn’t be in contact with the outside world! Cause that’s where the dishes are…
ourhouse_0962
Please meet our TV dish (on the left) which brings me four different state’s worth of ABC (cause you can NEVER have too much ABC!), Channel 7 and Imparja (a Northern Territory flavoured amalgam of channels nine and ten – crunchy!). ourhouse_0963

And the internet satelite dish is on the right… we have a kind of love-hate relationship, the internet satelite ‘broadband’ dish and I. I love clouds (the real ones that bring rain and relief to our parched grass, not the teasy, fake kind as illustrated above). The broadband satelite dish hates clouds – it shuts up shot the moment it cannot see blue sky (or even stars at night, there is no tricking it!). Sometimes it goes r-e-a-l s-l-o-w for kicks, even whent the weather is clear. Oh how I long for city broadband, the kind that whizzes so fast your hair stands on end. But bush beggars cannot be choosers… not city broadband for me!

*sigh*

Enough of my whinging… here is today’s

Weather for Granite Glen:

MINIMUM – 1 degree (C)

MAXIMUM – 22 degrees (C)

CHANCE OF RAIN – less than 5% of less than 1mm (i.e. buggar all)

Mostly sunny (fair dinkum?)

So coat, jeans and t-shirt weather, and above average chance of decent internet access… shame I won’t be there to enjoy it!

What’s the sky like in your neck of the woods?

Well, in the southern US state of Arizona (in the mts) we've got a 10% chance of thunderstorms, emphasis on thunder but not a lot of rain, w/ a light breeze.

    Temps : H – 37C or 99F
    L – 19C or 67F

Not a bad day for us.

Ah – there are a myriad of stories in those other roof beings (like you would find on SBS, Bushbabe… Oh yes, you get that too)!!

Bright and sunny here – currently 21 and if it rains, well, I would just be stunned. Cold last night (but relatively, not really) and if this cloudless sky doesn't change, could be a bit of chill tonight also. No wind (hooray) so – Paradise?

Blue, blue, blue sky here on the mid-north coast of NSW. (Still excites me after all the rain we had earlier this year.) Minimum this morning of 4 degrees (thanks to the clear skies) heading for forecast max of 19, but it was pretty warm as I finished the paper run for She Whose Alarm Didn't Go Off this morning. Currently about 16 (@ 10.00) and I'm about to hang the washing out.

I'm going to put 'go for a walk on the beach' on my To Do list.

    Hi BB,
Here at Mudgeeraba, Gold Coast it's bright and sunny.
Overnight Min Temp was 8.4 at 6 am
Forecast Max for today is 21
Current Temperature (10 am) is 13
    Humidity 94%
    Dewpoint 12.1
10% chance of us getting 1 mm of rain which I very much doubt.
Hope your stove hunting was successful…and…Happy Birthday to your Dad.

Today in Michigan it is finally warming up and feeling a bit more like summer. We haven't had much summer to speak of as it's been cooler than normal. Today I actually turned on the air conditioning because the humidity was getting up there. I've only had to do that a handful of times so far this summer! I'm enjoying what heat we can get because in a few short months it will be gray and cold and snow will be right behind!

We had thunderstorms in south Arkansas this morning. Temps stayed in the 80sF most of the day. We've had a fair amount of much needed rain the past three days.

I can relate to the ups and downs of having satellite internet since that's what we have, too. We're too far out in the sticks for DSL or cable, so satellite's the next best thing. Sure beats dial-up!

Here in Hamilton Ontario we are expecting Wednesday (as it is 10.51 pm on Tuesday still) to have a high of 22, humidex of 31, 80% chance of thunderstorms with approximately 10 mm of rain. Finally some summer weather – we've been wondering where it is this year.

This past weekend we got clobbered by thunderstorms that closed a major highway due to flooding. Some areas got 110 mm (!!!) of rain in about 2 hours. Nasty. There are people still bailing out their cellars. Fortunately, not us.

On a side note, I can't believe the range of temps you have – 1 deg C to 22 deg in the same day???

Heat advisory here!! It made 105F today, in SW Washington state,On two different thermos! 103F tomarrow!!Weather Wednesday! yikes At least we have had a breeze most of the day. They do not put AC in houses up here in the NW USA, especially ones as old as ours! 1966. so we make do with fans and staying outside in the shade and breeze!

  • ~*Autumn*~

Yesterday it got up to 103 degrees F… but cooled down a lot last night into a breezy cloudy sky… Much better than your part of the woods, although I have always liked winter better than summer. All I have to say is THANK GOODNESS FOR AIR CONDITIONING!

Too cool… well, too cool here anyway! I think DW would love our winters (if not our summers!) as it is 11 degrees in our kitchen tonight and I am a bit shivery.

Please Deb, enjoy that rain… the dust is suffocating me at the moment! Am coping with the sepia outlook, but enough with the dust… merci!

Autumn – me loveth a steamy summer… and me loveth my air con. Such a hot house flower!

Anonymous… I hate to be a killjoy, but unless we have a vague geographical location, this sign-in doesn't really..umm..work! You can still be anon!!!

Jayne – doncha hate it when it teases like that! Mother Nature is a bitch sometimes!!

Reddunappy – are you serious? Who doesn't put air con in? I'd be bringing my own, honey!

Cat – Welcome (first time commenter?) and holy moly with the rain!! Jealous as (see Deb's comment!)…

Deb – I know I can't complain about our winter – no snow, no serious ice-storms etc. But our houses are weatherboard and mostly uninsulated… so we get to really 'feel' the weather. Except those smarty pantses that have air con. Ahem!

Kelly – your place sounds a little like here… and nice to know someone else battle the satelite occasionally. And I KNOW. Much better than dial-up. Most of the time!

Elisabeth of GC – sounds kind nice actually. Don't get the 90% humidity and no chance of rain. We'd be doing rain dances with that kind of reading up here!!

Trace – I understand the enjoyment of clear skies after what you guys went through at the start of the year. Hope you got your to do tips from my sisters blog!!

…Speaking of whom – hello Jeanie!!! Yes, yes we do get SBS here. And believe it or not, I actually have a couple of favourite shows on it – main one being Top Gear!!! So there!

Bill – I hope you know you are living in Heaven!!! Heaven on earth that is… sounds balmy and green… *sigh*

    Sue2u2 – lovely… warm…lovely thought to sign out Wednesday with…

  • Bush Babe

PS Deb – really? You don't have SBS over there – it's the world newsy, arty-farty, overseasy, multicultural channel. My hippy sister claims to love it, but I think her conservative sister actually watches it more…
    *waits for flying saucepan*
