The great CALENDAR question…

OK – am working on a bush calendar…
using some of these photos cleverly selected by y’all (and here too).
But I need some advice – AGAIN!!
(How did I ever make a decision before blogging?)
.
The calendars would cost between $37 – $45 (Australian) plus postage
(for a really nicely-printed product on heavy paper).
Is that a reasonable price to pay?
I don’t want to compromise quality for cost…
but… if no-one buys any?
Thoughts people?
.
To help, here is what it might look like…
This is the large version 11x 17″ (centre-bound)calendar big 1

And what a month inside the large version might look like:

calendar big 2

And this is the smaller version (8 x 11″or about A4 size) :

calendar small 1

And a view of a month:

calendar small 2

HELP…

Am taking a poll on the sidebar too to help me decide Yay or Nay..

Perhaps if people go crazy, I can order more and the price will come down for a bulk order?

Hmmmm….

Oh, and another thing…

Does an Aussie Bush calendar HAVE to have a kangaroo photo?

Or two?

I wait patiently for your input, with worms on my tongue…

(that’s ‘bated breath’, apparently)

What does 37 dollars translate into in U.S. dollars. I have no clue. Yes, it should include at least one Kangaroo and 37 U.S. dollars is A LOT of dollars for a calendar! I'll just be honest.

Love your comment about Neil. We just liked it, but it's so funny how many people know Neil or are married to Neils, etc. Ha! Love your site, too! My husband's grandma is Australian and I'd love to visit there one day…

Mabe an idea as well could be to adress businesses to purchase the calendar's for there client's as a gift for there purchase.
I have found when i was working for the developing Company and someone bought a block of Land and at settlement they got a bottle of port . It made them feel special.A Calendar would be just as nice. The other avenue is market them oversees they all like the australian bush photo's . I believe if promotet right the price will be a detail.

I'm concerned a weakened US dollar would even make it more! That's just too much for a time-sensitive product.
Also, will there only be Aussi holidays?
I always look for moon phases. Does the southern hemisphere mess that all up??? I never thought of that before.

I do have to say that, truly, I'd never pay that much for a calendar. (Remember why I have a pink bathroom?) I'd be looking at a place to make a cheaper calendar. People looking at a calendar are not generally judging the paper quality. They give a look at the pictures, and buy it. That is my advice to you, my friend.

I'll have to see the conversion rate between Aussie and US dollars before I can make a real decision.

As for the kangaroos. Yes, an Aussie calendar has to have at least one kangaroo pic! (imo)

Yes to the kangaroo; but – for me – no to the $$$. As of this moment, $35AUD would still be $31.5 USD, which is more than I could do. I did buy a blog calendar that was printed by Cafepress.com. I paid $15USD, but don't know how they would handle international products.

Your pictures are so fantastic, though, that if I did buy one I would keep it to frame the monthly pictures!!!!

You see? THIS is why I keep you guys around (ha, ha!). What would I do without you? Probably blow a whole lot of money on a calendar people wouldn't buy, that's what! Thanks…

I might try and find somewhere cheaper (I am a freak about quality printing though so who knows how I will go). Any Aussies who can recommend a good place for printing calendars, drop me a line please!!!

    Thanks again…

I tend to agree with all the above. Photo quality is what people look at when they buy a calandar, and as we all know the photo quality is great. I too would prob baulk at over $35 normally, so if the price was around $30 I think it would sell better. However, I would buy one anyway! As for the roo photos, I think yes, include just for authenticity. Just maybe a little different from just the normal touristy sort of roo 🙂

Your pics are gorgeous. And I pay @ $40.00 for a large size calendar to fit my kitschy calendar holder wedding present. Your large size will do.

I usually choose horse themed ones, but I would definitely get one of yours. I LOVE Australia. One day, I WILL be there. If only for a week.
