Pre-Christmas rollercoaster

This’ll be quick – life is chaotic and crazy and Christmassy here
(or as my friend Jayne would say: Chris-Messy).
The emotional rollercoaster ride of the Granite Glen express has been full on –
Jeanie finally presented us with a little angel of a baby girl on Monday.
This little sweetheart…

(I would show you another of the shots, but my hubby has vamoosed in the Prado and accidentally taken my camera for the ride).
The as-yet-un-blog-named little darlin’ has a very definite little chin, an unmissable cry and loves being held upright against Mum’s chest. She and Salina are bonding beautifully -I have never seen a prouder big sister!
Gorgeous…
Lots and lots of other stuff (some of which involves some serious downward motion on that rollercoaster I am referring to) has happened. I will save details ’til after the Festive Season I think.
(Gosh I’m a tease, aren’t I?).
But this bit of weather-related news I will share:
it rained here last night as I was driving home in the dark from Paradise.
Real rain.
rain_0095
Freaky rain.
Flooding rain.
Almost four inches of the wet stuff.
With some hail, the size of large marbles.
But get this….
ONLY AT OUR HOUSE.
Well, it did reach our next-door neighbours’ too
and it actually put a run in the river,
but just over the small range just a few kilometres from our place…
NOTHING.
Dust.
It’s very weird.
Apparently from a distance, a giant mushroom-shaped cloud sat right over our property.
Some say it looked like a twister over our place.
(Not that we really get twisters Down Under.)
There is debris everywhere here this morning.
At least we don’t have to top up the pool or water the lawn.
I kind of feel for those whose rain gauges are still dry though…
We have friends trucking water to keep stock alive.
So we are keeping our joy pretty low-key.
‘Wide-spread rain’ appears to be an extinct kind of weather event in this part of the world…
Anyway, got go clean up and unpack and start cooking!!
Oh, and WRAP.
*sigh*
Happy Christmas Eve, my friends…
hope your Christmas rollercoaster stays up, up, UP for ya!

Aaaaw, what a cutie! We're expecting rain here tonight, which will be a pleasant change after the 40 degree day yesterday, for sure.

Here's wishing you all at Granite Glen a lovely holiday season.

    Be well, be safe.

    🙂

So..imagine 15 inches rain in 24 hours…like we had here in the metro atl. ga. area(plus days and months of rain before that day and since)

yet to be named is precious. what a true Christmas miracle…in my humble opinion. My wonderful husband had his bday today on weather wed! He is my miracle…I love him so!

have a very Merry Christmas over yonder!!

Well, Jeanie did a brilliant job with that little cherub didn't she? Glad to hear Little Cherub arrived safely – what a gorgeous baby….Congratulations to all.

Merry Christmas to you and your family BB…the rain was a very welcome Christmas gift was it not?

I will be in touch after Christmas re: my print (100th Follower) I can't quite decide and thought it easier all around to wait until the festivities (and baby birth) have settled down.

Your niece is just gorgeous. Congratulations to everyone, especially Jeanie and V.

I hope that the rollercoaster of Christmas settles down soon for you and that the lows especially aren't too low.

Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas, and more rain too.

Happy Christmess to you and yours. Can't wait for more baby photos! And here's to rollercoasters going up, up, up in 2010.

"Christ-messy"- LOL! Wow, that is a lot of rain. I guess it is a bit of a blessing, hey? I'm almost ready for Xmas! Got my gifts and they are wrapped, just gotta get myself packed and ready to head to the family. Have a fabulous one with yours, dearest BB! 🙂

what a sweet little girl. poor thing, she's doomed to having combination birthday/christmas presents for the rest of her life. i always pitied kids born close to christmas because of that. promise me you won't do that to her.

  • Hippomanic Jen

Love to hear that you've had rain, and while we desperately need some here, I can still celebrate yours (just!)

    You have a gorgeous niece.

    Happy Christmas!

Yeah, for that sweet little bundle of joy making her appearance! She is a beauty & no doubts about it. What a blessed miracle & especially this time of year. I'm so thrilled for Jeanie & her family! Yahoo!!!

We get that type of weird weather here in So Arizona, USA. Maybe the world flipped & no one noticed?

  • Debby

How did I miss this post?!!!

That is bizarre about the rain. Maybe Santa brought it for Christmas?

I hope that Mr. I is feeling better, and I have a bad feeling about our little calf w/ the tear in his eye. I'm buckling in for the roller coaster dip…
