What’s bugging me?

You know, I like to think I am a pretty easy-going chick.  While I have been known to get passionate about some things, I do try not to let little things bug me…

But this morning, when I checked my twitter feed and saw someone was promoting their site with a story written by BushBabeofOz… that’d be me.

I admit, it got under my skin.  I clicked the link and saw that the preview from my most recent post had been uploaded to this blog (forgive me for not linking here – but I don’t want to reward their actions with more hits).  It links back to my site from there, but the point is, no-one asked me.  It was certainly not the kind of post I would have chosen to share in another domain…

What would YOU do?  If someone just decided to help themselves to your copy and images to help the look and hits on their own website (one which is running ads and raising revenue)?  I mean, it’s one thing to ask for your contribution, but to just TAKE something?

All advice gladly received.

In weather-related news – it’s overcast here.  Has been for over a week now, with almost three inches of rain falling.  Plenty of holidaymakers are sick of it (and lots of my twitter buddies too) but honestly, I am literally watching the grass grow.  Phenomenal grass-growin’ weather.  And cattle-growin’ weather.

And pollen-inducing weather too. But let’s not go there again. *Ah-CHOO!*

🙁

It’s happened to me a few times, tho WHO knows why since I’m *no-one* of particular interest, but I checked on the image links – and when I saw they were nicking bandwidth (hot linking to my images) I got *really* pissed. So I uploaded new images – using the same file names – and replaced the images stating that that person (named their domain) was a content AND a bandwidth thief. They didn’t notice for a few hours, but then the post was quickly taken down. Nothing like being shown up at being a thief!

So they didn’t just refer their readers to your website, they used your material as well? Boy, that’s a fine line. I have occasionally pointed folks to someone’s blog, but never borrowed material—ie) : I was thinking about buying a good horse and found that BB’s site has some good ideas.
Would that be the wrong thing to do?
I never thought about it before. I only have about 3 regular readers. I hope you are able to get it sorted out with that blogger. I can see why it would be upsetting, especially if it seemed as though you personally were involved.

Weather: It’s overcast right now. We are headed into Fall, and the temps are finally starting to come down.

    First off…. great bug shots!!

Hmmmm.. well, my blog doesn’t get much traffic so I don’t have this problem, but I do link to others that I read (yours included) when making reference to them in one of my posts. But that’s just to get folks to go check them out or whatever and certainly not using their images or content on my blog. Don’t guess that’s the same thing your talking about.

I think it’s finally starting to cool down here in south Arkansas. Highs in the 80sF for a change.

    1. Awesome bug shots!

    2. I’d be mighty ticked if someone swiped content without permission but it happens.

I just read about one blog that literally swiped all of the content (whole blog posts about sick children etc. from other people) and posted it as her own.

Plagiarism is alive and well and apparently thriving on the net.(sigh) I guess I’d send a polite cease and desist email.

Since I’m too wimpy to blog, I don’t have that problem. It stinks, though – and there will always be people around who steal other people’s work no matter what it is. I do hope you find a way to show your frustration.

Speaking of stinky things, your beautiful bug looks like what we Yanks call a stink bug….

UPDATE: finally got a message back from the owner of the site using my links and content – apparently twitter offer a service which can use YOUR tweets in their content complete with images lifted from the link used in your tweet. He/she advised me to protect my tweets. No apology forthcoming…

What is the world coming to? (Am about to complain to Twitter – wish me luck!)

Shame Shame Shame!! I can imagine how annoyed you must be. Swiping material and claiming it as your own is vastly different to directing people to a good blog with positive comments. We all like that. This is straight out plagiarism if there was no acknowledgement. Very naughty and very unprofessional. How about you let us know who s/he is and we’ll add their blog to every piece of spam we can find. That should keep them underwater for a while!

I’ve had this happen a few times and at first I didn’t realise what was happening. (I’m known for my un-tech-ness!)

I realised that the people doing it were actually promoting my blog in a positive way, so I just left it at that. I do have a copywrite notification at the bottom of my site, though.

    I love your photos!

Darls, that is breach of copyright, outright theft and he needs to remove your content immediately.
Here is a site with some good advice on where you stand and what you can do HERE.
And this one has some links to programmes to check if your stuff has been copied HERE.
The cheeky bugger needs to learn a lesson in manners and the law if he/she wants to remain in the blogosphere!

Just back from vacation and catching up…and holy cow you have had quite the drama! I am so sorry. I don’t think what he did is Kosher at all. You should never steal content from someone’s blog and post it as your own…ESPECIALLY when that person’s content is about their children and other personal things.

It is sad that so many folks figure what’s yours is mine. Wonder if they’d feel as glibly about someone else thinking what was theirs was anyone else’s. My money would be on “NO. NADA. NOT EVEN. NOT EVER.” We live in a day and time where so many believe there are no consequences for their choices. Often, unfortunately, they’re right. At least for now . . .

Apologies if the chart is unclear. It’s new and your comments is appreciated. Printing here is self-service and meant to offer designers a hands-on, lower price alternative. Developers need to register for one of the membership intends before printing. If you’re
wanting to send files and have your job printed
for you, I could suggest printing shop in Divine superintendence that can do this.
