Calendar quotes to go!

Well, after a whole lot of umming and voting and harrumphing and pfaffing around, it’s finally available…

The 2011 Bush Babe Calendar is finalised and ready for pre-order.

It’s been quite an ordeal (what with all those decisions I made you make) but I am posting up a sneak peek at some of the images that ended up on the monthly pages.  It was hard ’cause some of my favourites didn’t make the cut (who decided there were only twelve months in a year anyway?)

I decided to add some great motivational, thought-provoking and (in some cases) downright funny quotes to go with each image. It adds something different to your everyday wall calendar… a point of difference if you like, so that it gets you thinking (and smiling). But LORDY, deciding on which one went where was like giving birth.  Let’s see a couple of examples…

This is March.

This happens one of my favourite photos – young bulls mingling at a water trough.  And it just begged to have something about ‘gossip’ scrawled around it… the quote underneath (for those without supersonic vision) reads:

There isn’t much to be seen in a little town, but what you hear makes up for it. ’ (Kin Hubbard)

I dunno. It tickled me…

There were the simple and straight-up heartfelt quotes, like the one used in January

‘Home is where the heart is.’ (Pliny The Elder).

No, I didn’t know that is who first said that line either. Good Old Pliny. But I know now (and so do you!).  Apparently Pliny was the son of an equestrian, which given the ‘horsey feel’ of much of this calendar, seems fitting.

I love attributing good quotes.  I always feel a little richer for it somehow.

Then there are the gorgeous pieces of verse, like December‘s quote…

‘We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow…’ (John McRae). *Sigh*

It is taken completely out of context from the famous war poem, In Flanders Fields. The words just seemed to fit my fiery bottle tree sunset. (Remember when it was taken back here?)

And my personal favourite quote landed in the month of June
2011 calendar page emus JUNE e
‘Playing it safe is the riskiest choice we can ever make.’ (Sarah Ban Breathnach)

*Tee hee*

Emus are just the most ridiculous creatures, no?  These lot took about ten minutes to decide which way they were heading…

This is just a taste of the finished product. I am putting a slideshow with every month and its quote with the above-banner CALENDAR link here.

Some housekeeping details which may be of interest:

  • most major Australian, American and Canadian holidays are noted
  • the calendar date squares are big and easy to write in. (I’m a mum, I KNOW how important this is to keep track of hectic lives.)
  • the stock on which the calendar is printed is nice and heavy (like last year) and WILL NOT CURL.  I hate curly calendars, don’t you?
  • A percentage of profits will go to HeartKids Australia (who help kids like our Dash, and families like us, when the proverbial hits the rotors) and our little school’s P&C who are fundraising like crazy to send bush kids to a snow camp next year.
  • I have an Etsy page set up for all orders, both within Australia and overseas – it’s easy and quick to do. I use PayPal which is safe and helps track your purchase.
  • If you are in Australia and don’t do PayPal then please email me with your orders at bushbabeaustralia@gmail.com.
  • cost is just $22 AU (plus postage)

So there we go – order early if you are interested.  I got taken by surprise last year and sold out in a few weeks.  Which made me feel kinda special, I have to admit.  So fingers crossed y’all enjoy this one as much…

Cheers!

🙂
