Black babies

I went for an inspection tour yesterday…

Because there had been these rumours getting around the ridges…

Rumours that some new additions to the Granite Glen family had arrived…

And lookee what I found…

Knobby-kneed, big-eared, darling, sweet, slightly-wobbly… BRANGUS BABIES!!!!!

Oh hello there… you smell nice…”

Oh that’s right – the milk bar is at THIS end!

This wee black baby is just a few hours old and still finding his feet.

The cheeky little devil below maybe a day more experienced in the ways of the world…

But not yet old enough to get away from Mum’s vigorous ear-cleaning routine!

Awwww… MUM!

Check out THIS little man investigating the water pump and tank – you see his mini-hump already (indicating his Brahman forebears) but he is as black as the Ace of Spades and totally a future bull!

He is might only be a day or so old, but he already has playmates…

And he can RUN LIKE THE WIND!!!

Wheeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

The Mamas are funny when their spanking new progeny take off.  They march on over from their grazing positions, with a low moo to their errant offspring and are all:

“Now, now, now!  You get yourself back here Mister! Don’t go running off like that again please…’

Kids.

Regardless of species, they never fail to make you grin.

Sure? I might need to send Mum too though okay? Not sure where the live export situation sits on this one, but am SURE Australia Post will take care of it.

Love the WHOLE post! What wonderful babies in your fields. Those new ones with the shiny coats and the floppy ears are so full of life and your photos are super. I especially like the texture and colors of the little guy by the water tank.

Magnificent Brangus calves. Things are looking good on the Granite Belt for this coming summer. Just a good rain pour every now and then for good pasture and no bloody floods – the World on the Granite Belt will be a luscious oyster for you all.
Great to know that you enjoyed the EKKA.
    Cheers

Love these photos! That top one looks like it has some Red Angus in its lineage. They are all beautiful!

Most of ours lean heavily on the Angus side, but we do have one old girl who has plenty of Brangus in her. Her ears make her stand out from the rest.
