Calendar polls begin
Well it’s arrived. That time of year when I finally get my A into G and try to decide which of my gazillion bush photos people might MOST want to adorn their walls for the following year. Actually, I TRY and then I FAIL and then I get YOU to help me. Calendar voting time. You remember how it goes, right?
So here is what I have done… I have reduced the options to 25. I know. That’s good right? Actually, some of the shots are not even ones I have already published. I trawled and trawled and kept finding shots I kinda liked and realised HECK, I haven’t even blogged that yet. I swear, if I was incapacited for a YEAR I could easily blog my way through it without taking one extra photo. Not that I want to actually find out if I could do it, but my external hard drive is groaning with excess shots.
And I admit I, among my chosen couple of dozen, I do have my favourites. And I wish to state out loud right now that there are certain balances I need to maintain – like if one of my offspring make it in, then the shot of the other offspring will also need to go in. Little things like that.
So you guys are getting some options here – not all at once (cause you might need a cup of tea, a Bex and a good lie down like I did).
But first the ones I reckon are shoo-ins.
Like this one which will probably be my cover shot.
Mostly cause its easy to whack a heap of writing over and (as some of you clever peeps pointed out cause I didn’t see it initially) it has a ‘kangaroo’ hiding in the barbed wire in the fence post hole! Sweet.
And I have to say THIS one is an easy pick:
Rob Roy near the river… ticking off the ‘flood’ and ‘naughty character’ boxes. Heh.
And for its sheer ability to make me smile…
Bee going Bottom Up. Ripe for a million quotes, no?
Also keen to include this shot – a little action amid a whole lot of scenery and birdlife.
You can see the calendar options in full on my Flickr pages (those with names including ‘calendar’).
But today I am going to ask you to choose between two crops of one of my favourite shots of the year.
Dragonfly Drinking. From this post originally.
Crop 2
Would love it if you could find it in your hearst to help me out, and leave your choice in the comments section.
And if you particularly like a shot in Flickr, please leave a ‘favourite’ or comment there.
Thanks (in anticipation),
Your (lazy) bush buddy,
BB

I like them both, but I’d pick the second, closer pic. I love to zoom in to see the details. 😉

Great photos…are you sure the dragon fly is drinking!
p.s. Bloody wind!
Katy Potaty
I prefer the first one, I feel like it gives the dragonfly some perspective and size comparison.
Florence
I agree with Katy. Both are awesome, but the first one wins my pick.
KAddy
Love them all but I especially love the big bold ones (not as fussed on the dragonfly ones as far as calendar shots go). Keep em coming.
Andrew
Yes, the second crop of the dragon fly. The earlier photos are no brainers.

That’s a hard choice .,… but I think the second crop is my favourite.

I like the muster shot, and the action packed campdraft shot. I also like the one of the kids on horseback, because that’s what its all about, really, isn’t it? I also like the boke (a, i?) shot of the fenceposts. The wattle shot is Australia, (and I can almost hear you sniffling as you snapped it). I like the cows with calves and you should pick one of them because it’s what you’re about.
PS that blue eyed calf? What do you do with a calf like that? Can she be bred one day, or is blue eyes a no-no? I always wondered about that. She’d make a nice picture too.

PS the dragon fly? I like the second crop. And that bee? What a nice reminder that even in the prickly times there is sweetness to be found.

I vote for crop 2 eh 😀
Kelly
As much as I like the composition of the first shot, I prefer seeing the dragonfly up close in the second one. So for me…. #2.

Crop 1. I love the perspective given by the twig in the water.

crop 2, although 1 is also good, just not as good. Hard questions.
