Double ton and giveaway

I am not sure if I am just lucky, but the internet (and blogging in particular) has been very kind to me… since becoming addicted taking it up four years ago, I have had NOTHING but great experiences (with the possible exception of my frustrating internet connection and WordPress constantly logging me out before I have saved my post drafts!).  I think the most negative comment was a spelling correction – and I don’t mind them, cause my family will get in if you don’t!

I have even met a few of you, and each fellow blogger has been amazing.  Writers, bushies, city slickers, Aussies, Yanks… all in all, the internet has been a really welcoming place for me.  And the world truly is a smaller place through this incredible tool.

So when I noted that my Facebook page for this blog (which is here) had hit 200 likes/followers this week (and my Friends Connect is also climbing towards the same milestone) I decided I HAD to celebrate. With you lot. Cause knowing you guys are there and reading my ramblings makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

So here is what I am doing…

roos_0017

I am giving away FOUR prints to readers this week – 8″ x 12″ professionally printed on the gorgeous metallic paper I have fallen in love with (and use for my own prints).

And the winners can choose ANY photo from this blog. Maybe it’s a calendar shot from the 2012 edition, or a rainy road photo or a romantic river image

ozday_0176

The metallic paper really makes the colours and details of each image ‘pop’ – almost making the photo appear three-dimensional…

Hi BB I found you through a fellow facebooker. I was curious about you. Checked out your blog and have been hooked ever since. I am only a ‘newbie’ only 6 months or so.

  • Kelly

It’s been a couple of years ago, but I think I saw an entry at Debby’s blog saying Scotty was having a giveaway at his blog for one of your prints. Not only did I win, I was hooked on your photos (and clever words) from there on out!

    I tweeted this post, too!

I must admit, I’m not certain, anymore, how I found you the first time. I’m pretty sure I started at the Books & Writers Community, and I’m thinking it was one of the members there who got me started reading blogs. I’m pretty sure I found you, and PW and AotRM all about the same time. But I’m not sure if it was a direct link from one of them or if I had any intermediate steps. Then it took me another… I dunno, another year or two, before I got on facebook, and much as I love it, I have to admit I’m probably overdue for a 12-step program. But first, I have to believe there actually is a problem! 😉 I’m sure glad you’re enjoying making this blog, ’cause I really enjoy reading it!

I found you via the Pioneer Woman about (what?!) four years ago now? And meeting you live and in people was very exciting. Although you might want to rethink the whole ‘SURPRISE!’ thing. I was so flabbergasted that I feel as if I wasted an entire afternoon just staring at you all, and thinking, “Gosh! They’re exactly what I expected, and pinching myself to make sure that I was not dreaming!)

And I’m not in the drawing, thank you. Give your new readers that pleasure!

I found you via the Horse Downunder magazine where you were advertising your calendar for 2011. So after being very impressed with your 2011 edition I continued to support your little calendar for 2012. Well done!

  • Hippomanic Jen

I found you about three years ago when I was reading some comments on Pioneer Woman and thought, “here is an AUSTRALIAN who made a good comment – I must check her out.” And I kept coming back for the photos and the good times.

I originally found you in 2008 or 2009 via a comment you made on Pioneer Womans blog. It was in your very early days and I have enjoyed sharing your journey with you. You have also have offered your support over the internet through some tough times for our family! It’s good to “know” you and your family BB. <3

I have no idea how long ago, months just seem to blend in. But I remember seeing a watermark on some pretty impressive photos on a cattle website… which led me to google to find out who Bush Babe was… and here I am still enjoying your photos and your blog today. Well done BB, do hope to catch up in person one day and say hi!

  • Anna

Hey Bush Babe, love your blog (big time!)!!!
I think I first discovered it in the wake of the live export ban, when you wrote a truly amazing little speach… As much as I hate what the ban and some of the reactions from the public have done/are doing to the industry and it’s people, it has had an amazing effect on farmers and people involved in agriculture to start networking. As I am not in Australia, I love how the blogs and networks keep me in the loop (means a LOT to me!)… I have learned so many new things and “got to know” some amazing people 🙂
Also love your beautiful photography, seeing these pictures helps me to keep my dream (of coming back over to Australia one of these days)alive and to get through the cold winter on this side of the globe… I came over to work in Australia a few years back and the Outback and it’s people have had a hold on me ever since! Can’t wait to get back over there again…
    Greetings from Germany ,
Your blog is a job well done!
    Keep it up, xo Anna

    Hi BB
    Congrats on the likings 🙂
Discovered your blog recently (some time this month) via AYOF-related links on fbook. Looking forward to reading plenty more as the year progresses.

Long long ago on on a blog far = far away I read one of your comments and my eyes become stuck. I wiggled and strained and could not pull free until I clicked your link (witchery it may have been) then, I was flung into space and fell to earth I know not where but the sign said OZ and your followers were 50 or 60. I keep coming back because Bella was a hero, the kids were getting bigger and the horses are getting faster. Meanwhile in the valley of the great Ohio River, USA it is cold and rainy.

  • LeeNJ

I’m guessing it was at least 3 years ago (time flies when one is about as old as your daddy!) that I found you. How? I THINK it was from Pioneer Woman but, who knows?, it may have been the other way around! I think we enjoy your blogs because you enjoy posting! Keep up the joy!

  • Lynda M O

I believe you came my way via Amanda’s Letters to Darl blog. Your comments are incisive and compassionate and your grammar shines impeccably. So that’s closing in on two years now that I have read both yours and AW’s blogs..

    Hi BB…
If I remember correctly (and that gets iffy as I get older)I came first to visit from Pioneer Woman’s blog and it was probably three years ago. I’ve returned many times because of your wonderful photos and accounts of life “down under”. Ever since seeing Robert Mitchum in “The Sundowners” when it came out many years ago I’ve been fascinated with all things Aussie and you satisfy much of my curiosity about fauna, flora, critters and life in your corner of the world… plus you have red dirt! Whether I win a photo or not, I’m a winner for having found your site.

Thanks for sharing life through your eyes.

I found you in the comment section of PW’s blog. It is nice I get to visit the land of OZ without a loooong flight over the ocean or spending a whole bunch of $ to do so. Thx for bring the outback to my part of Alberta.

IN 2010 I was searching for a “bush” calendar that had the type of images that we love. I came across the “Bush Babe” blog and not only did I find “THE” perfect calendar for our home but I found someone who inspires me to take more (and better) photos of the things I love and do something with them. Although I do feel like a stalker sometimes ; ). Thanks BB – Love Ya Work!

Not entering either – but wanting to say – I can’t recall how I found you because I feel like I have known you my entire blogging life. I am in awe of how your blog has grown and changed and it’s my addiction, I read you on my reading tablet every morning over my cup of tea. You are my toast 🙂

I remember exactly how I found you. You left a comment on Fleur Mcdonald’s blog. And it took just one little click….
It must have been in 2010, sometime before you were hit by the floods & you subsequently appeared on French TV. Remeber??
Since then I have been following your ramblings; they are so very different from mine…although I tend to mumble and don’t have the courage to post them, like you do.
Your photos are very much appreciated, as well. A breath of fresh air, I am tempted to say.

Although I didn’t comment at the time, I read with great interest your article on Fleur’s blog concerning your work as Farmers in her series “Australian Year of the Farmer”. Thanks a lot – it was very inspiring.
I meant to ask. What does EU approved mean, when you sell cattle to Europe? Are they being sold live? What are the conditions? Curious mind wants to know.

I’ve got two contests going on… the 3rd has already been won… I think we should celebrate together someday… we’ve come a long way! I like finding out what we share and what’s different between our place and yours… Keep on blogging, BB!
