Seeking Stella

So much has happened here over the past month – I have been too busy and exhausted to even blog (I know!).

I have soooo many images ready to share, stories to tell, things to annouce… but the most urgent thing of all that I need to publish is this:

STELLA IS MISSING

Violet’s adored little tri-colour collie-cross has not been sighted here for over two weeks.

She went missing during branding, on January 14 – as our crew (Mr I, Violet, Dash and Salina) mustered a small paddock near the Big Bridge.

These photos were taken in the last hour that we saw her…

It was a hot day, with the dogs taking rests under shady trees wherever possible.

We have many watering points on our place – natural and troughs – and they also took many cooling dips along the way.

She was last sighted by us, near the river.  It was noticed she was no longer following Violet as they took the cattle back to the yards.  We have searched the entire paddock, the surrounding waterways, the roads… nothing.

Usually a lost dog will turn up within a couple of days.  They can get overheated or disoriented.  She was young and healthy and just a couple of kilometres from home – and only a couple of hundred metres from the gravel road which carries public traffic through our place.  No sign of any remains has been discovered in our search areas.

Track marks of a vehicle pulling over were sighted near where she went missing. It could mean nothing. It could mean everything.

I have posted her image on Facebook, and it has been shared on many times. I have rung neighbours and councils. Nothing.

Violet, of course, is utterly devestated.

‘It’s not just that I WANT her Mummy… I NEED her. I just NEED her back.’

Yeah.  Breaks my heart too.

Our hope is fading, but I want to give it one last try…
