Hair one minute…

I had a bit of a brain snap after arriving back from our almost 4000km drive this week.  We have an awesome friend who happens to be a hairdresser, who HAPPENS to come to my house to do my hair.  This is an unbelievable luxury – I absolutely hate sitting in front of mirrors for hours on end – visiting the hairdresser is like torture for me!

Anyway, after years of my hair being the same – longish, all one length and pretty much ALWAYS scraped back into my version of a bun…

(I don’t have many photos of me showing my hair – this is the best I could do.  Note fake wine (actually water) and bull in background!)

I don’t know if it was the road-lag (is there such an affliction? If not, there should be!) or the heavy cold I had picked up, or the medication I was on to reduce the swelling around my almost-disappeared red itchy allergy-affected eyes … but the hairdresser arrived the morning after we got home, and I said:

“Chop it off!”

And without any ado or further discussion at all… she did!

Four inches of hair less, a fair bit more blonde and a whole new me!

Do you love my studio? Our bathroom, with shower curtain backdrop, fluoro lighting and shot into the mirror!

Seeing how I squint when I take photos, it’s no WONDER my smile lines are getting a tad furrowed! Yikes!

Please ignore red scratchy swollen eyes…

And complete lack of makeup!  This is about HAIR people…

I love it – although my ability to blowdry it into shape will no doubt be sorely tested.  How do hairdressers do it?

Dash loves it and Violet is wavering on her “I’ll never get my hair cut off” policy.  My husband? Well, let’s just say he’s slowly adjusting to the change… he likes long hair!  I am enjoying the change – feels so light and cool now.  The lighter colour is necessary. Let’s just say my natural colour around the front of my hairline is waaaaayyy closer to blonde than brunette, and for some reason my hair grows at a ridiculous rate.  The upkeep is insane.

Look out Jen – I heading blonde! (But I’ll always be a brunette at heart!).

Of course, I will be no more at home in front of a mirror or camera despite the changes … you will most likely still find me hiding behind some prop or other!

Ack!!

Running around to where I belong now – BEHIND the lens and concentrating on the beauty AROUND me!

PS Stay tuned for some calendar polls…

LOVE your new haircut! I’m considering doing the same. Every time I get a hot flash, I say I’m cutting it off.

And I’m with you on the hairdresser torture. I HATE going to get my hair done. Despite the fact that my colourist and my stylist are really, really nice, I don’t like all the fussing. Ditto manicure, pedicure, facial, etc. Just not me.

Love it and the way it flounces around your face. I miss my gal who would come to the house for us and cut all our heads for a ridiculously low price. Now it’s close to a hundred bucks and yes, there’s that mirror in front of me the whole time. Good news–Sandra’s super and cuts this mop like she knows how !~!

    You look like a whole new woman-and Vi–considering a cut ? … well, that’s a new game altogether.

Love it! I am sorry – I just can’t go along with the “Princesses have long hair” theory. But then again I am far from a princess!

    I love it BB!
    Totally suits you.
And you can head as blonde as you like….I seem to be making myself comfortable in the ‘yellow’ section of the hair dye lately.
    Not by choice, yuk!
    Keep rockin’ the bob…
