Toots!
We have a new addition to the Granite Glen menagerie…
She is teeny tiny and her name is … Toots.
(As in rhymes with ‘soot’ and not ‘loot’).
She arrived her about four days ago – motherless and dehydrated.
She is utterly adorable…
With a rounded head that makes me think she may have been born little premature.
She has teeny tiny hooves – with a hoofprint no larger than a 50c piece.
Her jet black coat – yesterday at least – was dripping wet. We towelled her dry a couple of times…
She has taken to the bottle extremely well – there is nothing more nerve-wracking than trying to get a baby to drink when you know you’re the only food option for it. Serious pressure!
And have you EVER seen such adorable eyelashes?
This sweet little heifer gets plenty of TLC – with Violet leading the charge in the TCOT (taking care of Toots) department. Toots trots along after her as is she is her Mama already!
I suspect we’ll have another Bay Leaf on our hands… in the ‘character’ department at least.
Has that filled you ‘cute quotient’ for the day?
You’re welcome.
🙂

You have great caring kids. Looking forward to the progress of this new addition to the menagerie! Toots, Bayleaf and assorted dogs!
At least Mr “I” got in a day of cricket, the rain did stop.

It is sad she is motherless but it seems that with all the TLC gorgeous, little Toots is going to be just fine. What a cutie 🙂

When you first see a poddy in such rough shape, all the sad endings must cross your mind. It must be a special joy to see one begin to thrive on your care immediately.
You know, you should explain how school holidays work in your country. Here, the kids get off for the summer (in most of the country), a three month vacation. Yours get shorter breaks more often. Is that a national thing, or is it set by the school? Do your kids go to school 5 days per week? Just curious.

Kids are on weekend here at the moment, but Violet will help feed before and after school. Schooldays are Mon-Fri and we have four terms within two semesters (2 each). Each break is a couple of weeks, excepting our summer break which is big – around two months normally. Here endeth the lesson.

OMG, my heart is melting! How did she come to be motherless? Abandoned? Lucky for her she’s on your ranch with you and your kids. Violet is the perfect Nurse Angel!!!
