Who’s that roo?
Among the gazillions of rainy-day/month photos I have snapped lately, have been shots of NOT WATER.
I know.
Even I get sick of water photos every so often (I recover though – extensive periods of drought in my lifetime have ensured an almost rabid-fascination with all things rainy).
I have noticed how the kangaroos seem to be more evident during our drives and my walks – perhaps just the higher-ground thing during The Wet?
Anyway, thought I’d share a couple with y’all…
This one has a ragged ear and is part of a big group who live in our next-to-house paddock. Clearly he doesn’t mind a dust-up. His name might be Bruiser?
This pair is in Bruiser’s posse too… a Mama (right) with big joey poking from her pouch, and a younger roo who stared and stared at the weird creature pointing the black thing. What do you think? Boof and Beryl?
This dude is an almost-grown male – he was VERY springy as he boing-ed across the open flat beside the river. Bouncer perhaps?
This Mama and bub pair were real speedsters, startling Sandy (Sarah’s horse) a little with their energy. Bullet and Blaze?
This one was much more leisurely, almost dismissive, as she hopped on by. Barbra?
This pair appeared more interested in eating than getting away from me…
Until I lifted the camera and began shooting…
Beyoncé and Bubba?
Come on… I’m SURE kangaroos have names… yeah. Okay. Maybe the rain IS getting to me.
🙂

I have never noticed before how weird roos look mid bounce. Just like someone photoshopped them in, or suspended them from a sky-hook. Weird.

I love these pictures. But heck, who am I kidding, I love kangaroos. My hubby and I visited Australia twice a few years back. We first spent time around Sydney and then around Perth on our second trip…. I know, hoe very American touristy of us. We always wanted to make it more out into the country. I love reading your blog because it gives me a glimpse into the stuff we missed out on.
