Bay B needs a moniker …
So are we ready for a Bay Leaf baby update?
And are you ready to help us name him properly?
Alrighty then…
Here is our little red (1/4 AIS dairy, 3/4 red Brangus) bull calf when he was about 2.2 minutes old.
This is him at about 2.2 weeks of age.
He’s growing up already!
He did NOT go short of attention in the first fortnight of life…
He’s quite a handsome little dude really…
And we can see plenty of similarities already with his (in)famous mother…
They both love a bit of an upper tail-scratch….
He’s also a reasonably fast learner.
For instance he worked out quick-smart NOT to get between his Mama and her food!
This is how NOT to do it…
This is the correct position when Mama is eating – not her glazed “in the hunger zone’ eyes.
He’s also an active little tacker…
I cannot help it … when calves get a little burst of the scampers like this I ALWAYS yell out…
Everyone likes an appreciative audience…
Did we mention his Daddy is a show bull?
His name is ‘Fire’. He’s a bit of ‘alright’.
‘Bay Leaf’ and ‘Fire’ sitting’ in a tree… okay, maybe not.
Anyway, they sure produced a sweet, solid little man *ahem* bull.
We think he’s a proper little cutie.
Of course, we could be biased.
A christening needs to be arranged!

Wild fire suits him.

Chilli? A little bit of fire and spice/seasoning.

The kids have spoken Andraya – and CHILI has won the day!! Nice work. Thanks so much for the suggestion (a lot of support I notice in following comments too).

I sorta like Bay B Boy but if that wont work how about Bay Lee
Or Billy
Elizabeth
Oh, I like Chili, too! Or Chili Pepper, if it needs to be two words… There’s something called Spiceleaf… Lots of use of the phrase “Fire and Spice” — Fire-N-Spice… If he grows up to look like his daddy, though, that is going to be one BIG guy! Careful of the cute tricks you teach him now! (As I’m sure you know!)

What gorgeous shots of baby, ma AND pa!
I’m not sure what names have already been used on past livestock, but in keeping with the spice theme, what about Cayenne or Paprika? I like the Chili Pepper suggestion, too.

To get away from the “kitchen names”, which would scare the living daylights out of the little bugger, may I suggest something more fitting and Imperial – “Gaius Julius Caesar”!! or “Big Julie” for short!!!
Florence
How about “LUGS”. He sure has big ones. But he’ll grow into them.
Anne@Grit and Giggles
Oh he is such a cutie … Basil? Parsley? Curry (plant or spice)? Little Red Fire Engine (Little Red for short)? Blaze? Brand? Okay so maybe a few too many names.

Chipotle, because it is a fire-y spice. Chip for short, because (hopefully) he’ll be a chip off the old block.

I thought Blaze (mentioned already)
Elmo (St Elmo’s fire)
Physically, St. Elmo’s fire is a bright blue or violet glow, appearing like fire in some circumstances, from tall, sharply pointed structures such as lightning rods, masts, spires and chimneys, and on aircraft wings. St. Elmo’s fire can also appear on leaves, grass, and even at the tips of cattle horns.[5] Often accompanying the glow is a distinct hissing or buzzing sound. It is sometimes confused with ball lightning.
He looks a handsome Dude.

I like all the names but have wondered if you have started milking his mama? I think I remember she was to be the house milk cow.
Helen Beutel
I like all the names as well. But my suggestion is Copper Kindle. Looking forward to what you choose.

I like Chipotle “Chip” and Chili Pepper, but if neither of those goes, perhaps Siracha–Sir Aaaah Cha! Such a cutie, and wow about dad. Somehow I’m not surprised Bay Leaf took a shine to him!
Bill
Flame would suit him
Jac
I like Basil!!!
Chipotle is the second choice 🙂
