Tay Tally Surprised
This weekend has been QUITE a start to our school holidays.
For a start we decided to surprise Violet with an early birthday present… a ticket to see Taylor Swift!
And to help keep the secret, we also surprised her concert companions, a school mate and Violet’s cousin, Salina. All thought our trip was for more doctors visits for me (which is was)… and shopping. Which it also was.
So it was LOTS of fun springing the surprise on them once we were already in Brisbane. Let’s just say Violet got a tad excited. There was screaming. Violet’s friend was so stunned she couldn’t speak. And Salina is far too old and mature (at 16) for that kind of carry on. But she was speechless for a moment – and if you know Salina at all, you will understand how huge that is! Heh.
These were my co-concert-goers as we rocked up to Suncorp last night.
Violet and her friend have fake nails (the stick-on kind). As y0u do. Salina wore her hair and non-posing attitude as only a teenager can.
Salina and I with our ‘VIP’ tickets. And our spanking new Tay Tay sunnies. We hoped that the passes might mean some kind of closer encounter with Her Nibs. But it meant mostly that we had lots extra (in ‘free merchandise’) to cart home.
The support act was Aussie talent, Vance Joy.
The kids were busy taking in the atmosphere of the crowd and a stadium filled with undulating glow sticks.
I admired his lovely curly locks as well as his unique musical style.
Riptide is the song of his I knew best.
Then (after much lead-up) Tay Tay FINALLY arrived on stage…
My favourite song – Welcome to New York!
It’s been waiting for ya!
I’m not going to pretend to recall which set and costume belonged to which song…
My head was spinning at the sheer logistics of the entire evening…
Ms Swift had it all in hand however…
Proving especially adept at this particular look… Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it!
Oh wait, that’s Madonna. Wrong era, showing my age!
Don’t get me wrong…
Girlfriend has some pipes on her. CAN sing.
Is extraordinarily good looking and an excellent performer.
With a posse of dancers who were pretty handy at their jobs…
The Mama in me wishes a couple of the outfits offered outerwear as well as underwear…
But again with the voice and the actual real skills on various instruments…
Playing to a HUGE arena…
On a spinning boom…
I know. Right?
… A taste of Marilyn, anyone?
Vogue!
Oh I know this one! BAD BLOOD. Loved the hard rock version…
Yes, she does the keyboard too…
Tay beckoned and Brissy went wild.
A little mystical …
Wildest…
Dreams…
Oh…
OH!
There is no doubt the humongous crowd of (mostly) young women soaked up every SINGLE second of it.
And she saved the best til last… Lang Park was shaking it off under fireworks!
By all reports (from the three seated beside me at least) it was the Best Present Ever.
That’ll do me.

Tim and I just went to see Clint Black. His concert wasn’t like Taylor’s though. LOL. Glad you all had a great time.

I’m afraid most of my concert attendance (other than symphony) was in decades past! And as I lean more towards Jazz these days, I can’t name ANY Taylor Swift songs! (horrors!)
What a great surprise, though, and it appears a good time was had by ALL. I like those glow sticks. Certainly safer than the Bic lighters of my day!
Kelly´s last blog post ..The Villa in Italy by Elizabeth Edmondson

My favorite concert was years ago, Cher’s Farwell Concert….but I am old. Very old. Lol.

I saw Tim McGraw in July and thought he was amazing, until I saw Lady Antebellum in August, they were incredible!
Wildest Dreams is my new all time favourite!

Best concert from international act Celine Dion, interacts genuinely with her audience. Best concert local, Beccy Cole, authentic, down to earth and loves her craft!

OK: best ever concert: GARTH BROOKS in 1990-something at Boondall, Brisbane. Best ever voice: Annie Lennox. Best concert I never saw: Queen. Oh how I wish I had seen Freddy live!

I’m pretty sure the best concert I will see is Taylor Swift (I’ll let you know on Saturday night/Sunday Morning, from Melbourne) and STYLE is my fav. As is Long Live. *sigh* Can’t wait!

Cannot choose between The Beatles and Ray Charles …both at the old Sydney Stadium…
I cringe now when I think of that seating…but the shows were great…
And on another note…what a great Mum you are…with all that is going on in your own life…you are just giving your children the best ever memories….You rock!
