Lick and a promise
I do apologise for the excess of red calf photos lately… you need to understand that when you feed a certain animal four times a day, the odds of her being in front of the lens is pretty darned good.
This series of images was taken in the pool yard, as the kids were swimming yesterday and Bay Leaf did her best to give me the hint it was time for feed number three of the day. She refuses to walk on the cement near the pool (she spends some days in the pool yard for reasons I will explain later) which is actually a good thing.
It’s a good thing in that it’s safer if she isn’t wandering TOO close to the water.
And also, it gives me somewhere to ‘hide out’ from her when she decides its feed time. Girlfriend is DEMANDING. She doesn’t take NO for an answer. She doesn’t let a little thing like toes getting in the way of her hunger… and my right big toenail (which had JUST regrown from this incident) has already bitten the dust. Ow!
At the ripe old age of almost-three weeks (on Monday) she is already trying out other tastes besides foul-smelling powdered calf milk. And that tongue of hers is BUSY baby… I have compiled a small slide show taken over the course of about a minute of her exploring the lawn near where we were sitting…
Cute?
Now that last pic of our beloved Great Dane and Bay Leaf… well THAT little pic is worth a WHOLE lotta words.
And I shall explain. I promise.
Next post. It’s worth its own post, trust me…
Heh.

Newsflash: Not all that good at waiting for the rest of the story…
I am trying to remember the age they reach where they stop trying to wear their milk bucket as hat, with the handle as a chin tie.

A very sweet face.
Hahaha! Great dane is interested in eating ALL things calf- milk, poop, snot, nuts(pellets), hind legs, etc. etc.
We just released our poddy calf to the cow and calf paddock yesterday. Our German shepherd had the above issues in the first few weeks, but then got used to him and we could leave him on the lawn overnight.

Please don’t get me wrong, our calf was perfectly safe as I am sure your’s is too, in his own yard that the dogs can’t get into, the german shepherd just wanted to taste ALL that milky yumminess, (before and after consumption) and we played it super, super safe plus we sometimes have wild/stray dog issues!
