Laugh lines

I shot this photo during our rain inspection outing the other day…mr i_0113 bwe

… it makes me smile.

I just love that my husband smiles with his WHOLE face – one of the very first things I noticed about him actually. Right after those mesmerising blue eyes… they caught my attention but it was the crinkling smile that did me in.

My mother also smiles with everything she has – her delight reflected in every corner of her face. Her lines are happy reminders of a million smiles. They tell the world about her character and it’s a beautiful thing.

Do you think celebrities (and others) who freeze their faces realise what they steal away, when they try to steal back years? That the very light in them that made them beautiful to begin with is dimmed by that effort?

Smile crinkles rule.

Nothing like a good water supply to make a man of the land smile—BIG. Mr. I has a great smile. Cool that you were able to capture such a moment.

I'm glad that you just have an old clunker camera and shot real things and life, because if your equipment were bigger, faster, shinier, red with multi-stripes, then you might be tempted to shot only things that can be turned into art and forget about everyday life. – Bill – and I like the way you do life.

You are sooo right!! I have always loved laugh lines…when I was a little kid I couldn't wait to get them…they really can speak volumes!! I love this blog by the way! I read daily!! Greatings from Idaho!

A friend's 8 year old daughter noticed my laugh lines and said, "you have wrinkles!!!" Her mom said "Tracey!" And she said, "But they are cute wrinkles!!!"

I, too, think smile crinkles rule.

That's a sweet photo – I love to get pictures of my husband like that. It doesn't happen often.

Laugh lines are proof that life is good – I'm so proud of all of mine 🙂

I'm with you on that! I couldn't talk without expression, so how actresses think they can express emotions without being able to move their faces at all stymies me.

PS – the word verification is 'outomess'. That certainly does not related to the household at my end. How about yours?

    Hubba hubba hubby.

Now I've lost my train of thought…

You know, there's an expression that goes something like "at fifty, you have the face you deserve." If you frown, it'll show. And if you smile, that'll show too.

  • Crazy Sister

I'm happy with crinkles fanning out from my eyes and smile. The big worry crease between my eyebrows I could do without. Sigh.

See, I am REALLY noticing how much laughing I have done in life these last few weeks, because some mornings I can see nothing but the laugh lines.

My word verification is "dimmen" which is what I probably should be doing to the light these mornings.

Well, it was – but I forgot to enter it. My new word verification is "trannes" – not sure if there is a missing "I" and whether it should go in front of the n (as in what rolled over me) or after (as in what I might look like if I attempted makeup)

Another vote for the crinkles from me.

I'm reminded of how Paul Hogan got a face-lift and totally wiped the character from his face.

    Great photo; enjoyable blog.

David – EXACTLY!!! ANd he had great laugh lines… crazy. And thanks.

Jayne – ah, that's what it is! I have lived well then, especially those bags under my eyes. They say "too much computer, not enough sleep!".

Jeanie – I am most honoured you had the time AND energy to make such a humungous comment! And I love your lines… you give great smiles (and FEROCIOUS frowns)

Nancy – I agree, which is why I work so hard to make him smile! He is notoriously stern… that's why it really was a good catch to get this shot! Ask Jeanie…

Debby – I suspect he may have been laughing AT me rather than WITH me… but who am I to quibble!

Crazy Sister – I have lines I don't like either. I am quite human. My bags under my eyes for instance, and the indelible line tracing down the centre of my chest. My nephew calls this phenomenon the 'one line' and my SILs netball team is known as the 'One Liners'. Cracks me up every time!!

PAM (ANW) – why THANKYEE ma'am. AS I recall your soouse is a bit of a hottie himself! We have SUCH great taste, no? Heh. I have not only the FACE I deserve, but also the rear end. *sigh* Why is brie cheese so tempting?

Jen – couldn't agree more. I watched Helen Hunt in a movie last night that she directed. She hid NOTHING – every line she had was there on display. Made me uncomfortable to begin with, but by the end I could feel the character in a way I could NEVER have with a frozen forehead. (Darling Nicole, please take note!)

    Mikey – I KNEW you'd understand!

Deb – good on you girl! 🙂

Helen – Violet pointed out the 'cracks' on my face beside our beachside holiday unit pool this morning. I could have done without that! Heh. I am sure she thought my cracks were cool?

    CJS – I concur!!

Nikker – my thoughts precisely. Of course I was never looking forward to the ones around the mouth like you've sucked a lemon. Those ones are not so much fun!! And thanks for dropping by…

Bill – you are a smooth-talkin' son of a gun! Rest assured I am not into pin-stripes or being too 'arty-farty'. But life IS art, isn't it? Who can beat Mother Nature? Not me…

Leenie – thanks darl. Think so too!

Kelly – *whispers* You think they're listening? *giggles*

    🙂

Everyone has already said it, but I thought I'd chime in anyway—Fabulous picture! You seem to have captured something really wonderful in that shot.
My favorite picture of my hubby is of him after a week in the mountains with his buddies. He's completely exhausted, needs a shave, but soooo relaxed and happy.

  • WhiteStone

One thing I particularly like about my Hubby is that he laughs! Big laughs! Wide-open laughs. And He easily laughs at himself, which is particularly endearing, IMHO.

    Nice Photo of your Man!

I've never understood the obsession of removing wrinkles, laugh lines, or crow's feet; my Mum always told me that the face is a book and all the lines tell a story.

That's a great shot of the hubby, and yes, it's nice to see someone smile with their whole face, isn't it? Will that shot be in the next calendar? On the cover maybe?

    🙂

Plastic smiles (celebrity fashion) can't compare to real smiles like Mr. Incredible! NO WAY! I'm no fan of plastic surgery.

Huge fan of wholehearted smiles. You have a great one, too, btw!
