Makes me smile

My latest entry in Pioneer Woman’s Photo challenge

The theme is Happiness.

And this photo represents happiness in so many ways to me.

I took it when my husband was laughing at the kids, frolicking in the floodwaters in a creek near home.  I posted it originally here – and I talked about how I loved the lines of his smile.  Laugh lines.  Happy lines.

He was happy because of the rain. Because – for a little while at least – we could enjoy easy green pastures in our paddocks.  And water for the cattle would be available in natural watercourses, with slightly less demand on all of our underground (pumped) water supplies.

He was happy because of the kids.  Because their laughter was infectious and easy.  And their joy immediate in the moment of each splash.

And I was happy, looking at his unselfconsious happiness.

What makes you happy?

If you are entering PW’s challenge, please leave your link here.  Remember, you’ve got to be in it to have a chance of winning it – and while you are ‘in it’, the view (of other entries) are pretty spectacular and inspiring.

For those interested in camera nerd stuff, the shot was taken at 1/80 sec, f 13, 170mm (18-200mm lense).  Not much alteration to colour, but used a texture (Dageurrotype) around borders of image.
