Chill…
It’s been a full-on weekend here, with campdrafting, working cattle and visiting rellies all thrown into the calendar. (Pictures of some of these activites to come this week!).
It’s been fun, exhausting, normal.
The images are of my favourite tree – blue gums – taken as we headed to my in-laws to have smoko and pick up a truckload of hay this afternoon.
Same trees, different angles.
Aren’t the colours amazing?
We had some lovely rain during the week (17mm in total) and it looked like it might rain again over the weekend. But you can see the skies above – crystal clear. And when the clouds lift… the warm air does too.
Tonight, as I plan the week ahead (it promises to be busier than the weekend!) I notice a distinct chill in the air. The kids both asked for heaters on tonight and my nose is definitely cold. Mr Incredible has fashioned some blankets to keep the work dogs a little warmer, as I look at our ridiculous giant pooch (Axel the Great Boofhead Dane) who is currently curled up beside the couch. I feel cruel putting him out at night, but the dog would take over the entire house if I relent. (He has three blankets on his bed on the little verandah outside our bedroom. He does okay.)
The chill is sneaking in every through doorway and slightly opened window. I don’t deal well with the cold – I’m a summery kinda girl. Single figure temperatures are not my idea of fun. A friend who is originally from Europe laughs at me and my big maroon parker at eleven in the morning – she swans around in a singlet top crowing about the ‘lovely crisp morning’. Yeah. My fingers and toes are crisp. And their ain’t no ‘lovely’ about it.
The forecast tells us we have a ‘slight’ frost risk tomorrow morning – but as the forecast only takes into account our nearest town (50 km away) I am betting we get one here for sure. Expecting a week full of the same – maximums of 20 degrees. I may get the parka off at some stage – but I’m making no promises!
So tell me:
1. Are you are cold weather person, or a warm weather lover?
2. And what’s the weather doing with you?

Neither. Fall is my favorite season, followed by spring. I prefer moderate for temperature and politics alike, no extremes, thankyouverymuch.
Yesterday we decorated the family graves in Wichita and Newton for Memorial Day–early this year due to rain in the forecast for today and Monday. It was 88 but felt more like 100 with the awful humidity and lack of shade in the Wichita cemeteries. For once the Kansas wind was not blowing much. I felt like I might suffocate from the heat and still, oppressiveness of the air. In winter I’m usually whining just as much.

I’d like some of your chill, BB – I’m definitely a cold weather person although I grew up near the beach in Florida. I’m with Jenni on Spring and Fall, but I also love winter. My new friends and neighbors here in Western Iowa thought I was crazy when I admired the snow a few short months ago!
Currently it is 66F, headed for 76, but was 92 yesterday. We have ups and downs from today’s temp up to 90s in the forecast, along with some showers starting tonight.
If Axel gets cold, send him here – he can curl up on my recliner – it’s huge!

That sounds like a lovely week Lee!! Nice in-betweenish weather. 🙂

I’m definitely a warm weather person. We don’t get much Spring or Fall here in south Arkansas, but I do enjoy those seasons when we do get those mild temps. We’re already getting into the 90sF here (and that’s with a high humidity).

I am a cold weather person, although I love the feel of the sun. Once the temperature goes way up and the humidity kicks in, I am down for the count.
The weather here is beautiful in Maryland, USA. Summery. Wish we were having a BBQ somewhere with relative, but SOMEBODY wanted to stay home.
I love those trees and the photos of your drive to where I wanted to go today. The rellies, as you say.

Yay – the autocomplete works on your blog now…
Me, I far prefer hot weather to cold.
It is apparently 10 here at some point today – that is as close to single digits as I need, thank you very much.

Gosh that IS exciting… hope it works for everyone!
🙂
PS It was six degrees in my kitchen this morning – how it didn’t frost outside is beyond me!

I’m most definitely a summery person, I dread the thought of layers of clothes, not that too many layers are really required here on the Gold Coast…..Originally from Victoria where winters are decidedly colder I haven’t experienced that sort of cold or a frost for many years.
When I was as young as a horses tail I enjoyed snow skiing – now I find it hard to believe I ever enjoyed such a thing….Bring on the summer!
Tracey
Ask me on a sweltering hot summer day, and I’ll be wishing I could be in the snow. But if it’s freezing cold and blowing a gale, I’d teleport to 40 degrees ANYWHERE in an instant if I could.
I don’t mind cold if the sun is out, and there’s no wind chill factor to deal with. Overall I’m kinda glad I live where we do. Rarely drops to zero. Single digit mornings usually warm up pretty quickly, and we rarely hit the high 30s, even, in summer.

I am a warm weather person. Not a fan of the cold at all. The weather here is gorgeous, in the high seventies, low eighties, sunny, beautiful. It’s been a gorgeous long weekend. Sadly, I worked all of it.
Naomi
i am most definitely a cold weather person. the weather of late has been perfect, including the rain. i can have the window open, a fan blowing a light breeze on me and i get contented sleep. when it starts getting up to 20C and higher i begin getting grumpy, sweaty and frizzy. week before last we hit 30C. i was a sweaty, miserable, frizzy puddle.
i’d much rather -30 to +30.

I have to endure the cold. I like a little sample of it, but getting out of bed becomes more difficult. It is overcast here and getting colder and colder as the day goes on. I’m holed up in my office with the heating on.
Tara
We’ve just had the first really cold snap for winter. It’s been almost freakishly warm for this time of year! And the 10mm of rain we were promised last week turned out to be only 5mm. *sigh* Clear blue skies again today.
