A date with January

You know, I had every intention of writing this post for January 1.  Really, I did.  It would have totally made more sense to have it posted up then.  Unlike now, when it’s heading towards the middle of January at an alarming rate.  But you know, Mother Nature came along and completely distracted me from these well-laid plans.  She’s a piece of work, that Mother Nature.

An-ee-way… I sold a calendar last year.  Actually, I sold a few of them.  They had piccies from this very blog, and dozens and dozens and dozens of them were posted out to all kinds of amazing corners of this globe.  And (as I did last year) I hope to share a few of the places the 2011 Bush Calendar ended up.

The lovely Leenie (Side Trips) leads the way – with her BB calendar taking up residence in Idaho, USA.  Leenie is a wonderful (graphic) artist and yearns for a little sunshine in her icy, cold Northern Hemisphere winter.

Apparently her calendar was nailed up on the wall on its arrival, to add some visual warmth to her early November snow!

Unpacking some sunshine!

If you haven’t been already, you REALLY need to see her snow photos from one of her latest posts. For someone who has only seen snow a handful of times in my life, I am awestruck at the delicate intricate beauty of snowflakes…

And I just checked the weather in Leenie’s neck of the woods, and it is MINUS 15 degrees Celsius there people!!! Yikes…

I wonder if I should have wrapped the calendar in a little more bubble wrap?  After all, it DOES come from sunny Queensland.

(Well, USUALLY sunny Queensland!)

And now it’s somewhere kinda near Yellowstone National Park.

Cool. (Literally!)

Leenie worked out that there are approximately 8,400 miles or 13,500 km between our homes.

A world away.

Where she is marking Idaho days off under an Aussie mustering scene…

That kinda blows me away.

If you have a photo or a calendar-related story, then drop me a line to share (bushbabeaustralia at gmail dot com).  I do hope they all arrived safely at their new destinations across Oz and overseas.  I know so many have gone to amazing locations… and some pretty amazing people.
