To Print or not to Print?

THAT is the question…

Well, actually it’s a couple of questions really.  I have been getting some enquiry about doing a BUSH CALENDAR for 2012… which would mean lots of polls for you all to help me select images for each month.  And the possibility you might purchase one too – not much point me having a pile of calendars gathering dust here! (I know, I know… I miraculously sold out the last couple of efforts, but regardless, I always panic that no-one will buy them!)

If I have a rush of blood and decide that I am up for the headaches of dealing with printers again, are you up for the challenge of choosing photos?  Are there some you would suggest straight off the bat?

I quite liked this one taken the other day.

And this one…

(I want to find a quote about BOTTOMS UP to go with it)

…and then there was this one too…

(More of a BOTTOMS DOWN shot really.)

But you may like something else altogether.

And lastly, what do you think about maybe having a FINANCIAL year calendar rather than a NORMAL year? Just an idea…

Confirm, deny and suggest away… or talk me out of this annual madness!

(What I REALLY need is a calendar that gives me about two more hours in every day.  Don’t you?)

🙂

More hours in a day would be a gift for all of us, BB. Have you a direct line to the people in that department?

I would love a calendar and I approve of the upside down bee pic already. Do I remember that you ship to the USA ?~! i remember so dang little these days…

No one buy them? Don’t be crazy woman! 🙂 They’ll sell like hot cakes! I can’t help you avoid the headaches of the process, but nothing a few deep breaths and glasses of wine here and there won’t help! My Christmas shopping will be a MUCH bigger headache without your calendar that’s for sure! If you can convince yourself to battle the hours of such a thing – then I for one would be glad and much appreciative! Financial Calendar? I have never used them, much prefer Xmas at the end of the year not the middle! But I have lost my supplier of my diary, which I use EVERYDAY… and wouldn’t that be nice to look at your photos every day….just a thought. Feel free to tell me to keep my ideas to myself! Calendar? BIG FAT YES! Diary? – NOW THAT WOULD BE JUST AWESOME!

I will buy another one this year BB – last years’ was my husband’s xmas present. Not big on the financial year calendars but that is just my personal preference…can’t wait to see the choices.

I’ve been toying with the idea of a calendar using my pics, too. (My New Zealand 100% Pure pic of Lake Tekapo is just begging to be printed, don’t you think?) Just not sure about the mechanics…and if people would actually buy them 😛

Holy hell – where would you start with 12 photos for a calendar?????
    My two bob’s worth:
2 of the kids on horses.
2 of the results of “Yasi”.
2 of trip to the USA – especially the riding episode in Texas? ( the kid one.)
    2 of your cattle
    2 of sporting events
2 of the area where you live.

    How would we buy one?
I think it is a great idea, go for it.
    Cheers

If you could arrange for us to get a couple of extra hours per day, I would be first in line to to buy a lifetime supply!

Seriously though you would be crazy NOT to make the calendars again this year. I was kicking myself for not getting a couple for the O/S rellies last year.

Well, I guess that I’d make that decision strictly business. F’rinstance: How much time did you spend on the calendar, vs. the profit of the thing. If you’re working for a mere 43 cents/hour, there are probably more profitable ways to spend that hour. However, if you are making an acceptable profit, go ahead. Another thing that I think would save you a great deal of money is this: America has one of your best reader bases. How about you use two different printers: one in your neck of the woods, another in the USA. Have the calendars shipped to a place in the USA, and have that place ship them to that part of the world. I would be glad to do that for you, and I believe that I know a printer that could help you. I imagine that the whole picture transfer thing could be done via computer, and it would save you a boatload of money in postage.

I like this idea – except that I am a control freak and need to see the end result before I send it. I also like to send a personal note if I can to each buyer… maybe there is a way around it?

      • debby

I’m very sure that there is. I’ll bet if I spoke w/ a printer, they’d figure a way around it.

As for the personal note, I’ve an idea, I’ll e-mail.

We’re headed out for our first night in the new house. (there will be wine!) I’ll be in touch after work tomorrow.

Well, Debby is sounding very sensible here. It really should be your decision, since it’s your time and effort that goes into it all.

And since you asked, my thoughts on the content are: Regular calendar year, photos from your neck of the woods since (imo) the whole point is a BBofOZ calendar, and please add those extra few hours to each day. 🙂

Of course I’ll buy one. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last two (looking at the emus in the road as I type). I’m even happy with being surprised on the pix you use. (though your polls are fun…but lots more work for you, I’m sure)

Put me down for one! And i’ve loved all the images you’ve used. I would definitely use the bee one and the water one…but really any of the critters or bush or especially horses make me happy 🙂

And really truly, we all love the calendar, but if it’s a major hassle for you, please think about that. Not worth it if it causes you undo stress 🙂
