Toof!

Violet has had loose front teeth forever.  Honestly, they have been wobbling and then getting ‘set’ again for about six months… she had even managed to ‘push’ them semi-permanently into a protruding position (less kind people might say ‘bucked’) by secretly pushing behind them with her thumb.  (They went back into alignment when we were made aware of her little habit by an orthodontist, and we asked her to please stop.  So she pondered our request, and then decided to do as we asked. A month later – straight teeth.  Unbelievable!)

This week she had a bit of a spill at school.  She called it a ‘face plant’. Down the last two steps of single-flight staircase from the one-teacher school building.  A little blood. Some bruising to her cheek and ego.  And this, this afternoon…

WhatdoyerfinkofDAT!” she squealed, as she flew up the back steps during a bike-riding spell with her big brother.

‘My toof, MY TOOF, MY TOOOOOFFFF!!!’

Well, well, well… what DO you know!

(Please steel yourself to look behind the Oreo/Tim Tim encrusted mouth and the grazed cheek)…

A WHOPPING GREAT HOLE in Violet’s smile…

It’s been almost two years since Dash lost his first top tooth (pic here) and ten months since Violet lost her very first tooth (here if you can handle any more toothless pics).  I have to say, losing a TOP tooth is what really changes a child’s face completely though.

I tried to find a recent ‘before’ photo of our girl in order to properly share the shock of this new look…  I found this:

Taken in New York in February. Not too bad, but that coat and snow are a bit distracting…

Then I dug deeper into the mine of my overloaded external hard drive, and chanced on two photos taken by Dash on our little ‘throwaround’ camera:

Snapped during a visit from a special rellie last year – you can see the teeth in their ‘forward position’ here.

This one was a bit later in the year I think – when it was hot and green.

How good is this portrait?  That’s my boy… oh, and my girl (who we are supposed to be focussing on here)…

And, in contrast, our new ‘toofy’ daughter…

*sigh*

They grow up so quick…

Now if I can just make sure that Toof Fairy is awake and booked in…

🙂

PS Is there a gap-tooth smiley symbol out there?

OH MY GOSH! It seems like just a bit ago, you were posting Dash’s toothless photos!

    Doesn’t time just fly? Really?

That girl is drop dead gorgeous. With or without teeth.

It is so fun to be able to take gobs of photos so you can save little pieces of your life for review later. congrats to Violet on the gap. At least she got some good out of that tumble.

I love the look! One of my favorite pix of Diane as a kid was in her Raggedy Ann dance costume with a big smile and missing tooth!

BTW, I have a better understanding of your huge flood(s) last year. The Missouri River, which runs 8 miles from me (probably 6 or 7 miles by now) is at a record high, has made thousands of people homeless in 10 states, impacted towns, businesses, farms, closed highways and bridges. You can see it on Facebook on the public page Siouxland Flood.

What a lovely toofy grin attached to fabulous little lady 😉
“Oreo/Tim Tim encrusted mouth”,,,I know what an Oreo is, but here in Canada when you say Tim or Tim’s we are referring to Tim Hortons, (like Starbucks, but only better),,so what is the Canadian equivalent to Tim Tim?? EH!
