It never rains…
This blog post is not the only thing long-overdue here…
A proper bit of wet-stuff from above has been sadly missing for the past 12 months… despite much talk about the El Nino kicking in, storms have been dancing around the state all week.
Mostly avoiding us (and teasing us and dancing away again)…
A few millimetres here, a few there…
Storm clouds gathering, rolling, looming, then sliding off and raining on someone else’s farm..
Til Tuesday night, when we got 54mm in two falls.
Heaven-sent.
Literally.
The relief (although we knew it wasn’t drought-breaking) was palpable…
And then last night (Thursday) – again in two falls…
64mm… just divine. So long-prayed for. So sweet. So gratefully received.
Then tonight – straight after our little school’s breakup day (yet to be blogged!)…
It started in properly…
Dripping on decks…
Sogging up the silver sparkles…
Pouring off tin roofs…
Perplexing Great Danes…
Mesmerising kids…
The heavens opened…
We’ve almost forgotten what it feels like!
77mm in two hours. (That’s three inches in old language).
And more in closer to town.
We know some bridges in that way (about 40km away) are under already.
Is it possible to go directly from drought to flood?
Only the morning will tell!
Stay tuned…
😀

Rain is a good thing. It is nice to hear the rattle of your keyboard.

Great isn’t it!
Not too wonderful here in BNE a week ago with that bloody hail the size of tennis balls.
It also was bloody scary – shades of 1985!
Fantastic that you have been getting the follow ups – I have been watching the weather patterns around the Granite Belt!
“Hughie” was a bit late in the delivery stakes this year, but I think there will be many happy smiles on faces this Christmas.
Merry Christmas to the BB family and may 2015 be health wise somewhat less dramatic and with good weather for stock fodder.
Cheers
Colin

It’s simply wonderful when the rains finally come and it sounds like you’ve had some drenching. We finally got a decent downpour in the early hours of this morning, but it was bright blue skies again today.
