Wish upon a star
Remember this darling addition to the Granite Glen menagerie?
Yvette’s spectacular chestnut filly, born here on Christmas Day…
Well, we named her… and I just realised I have NOT shared her moniker with you yet?
(Naughty bush blogger, I am!)
Her name… drumroll… is VEDETTE.
Vedette is French for star… of the movie variety. And as her mother is a redhead French-named blog star, we think it fits her perfectly…

This is Vedette with Violet a couple of days ago…
Her baby coat is starting to fall out, encouraged by the serious heat over the past few weeks…
And we think she will be a liver chestnut… stunning!
She is as quiet and curious as ever…
Directing whoever is nearest to scratch her just so…
She’s a little bit bossy – as chestnut fillies are wont to be!
Funny how there don’t seem to be any SMALL personalities here – humans and animals alike!
Sorry I took so long to update you on our little star, Miss Vedette!

No, sadly we have seen no sign – either in the paddock or from anyone who may have picked her up. 🙁

What a lovely young horse !~! So cute with Violet, too.
I often think of the young Jack-a-roos that I have seen here over the years. The rodeo riding and jamborees and drives have all brought us wonderful pictures of a land likely never to be seen in real life worked by people are remarkably different than anyone I will ever know.
